The Seven Virtues

I came across the seven virtues listed in 2 Peter 1:5-7 during the Covid 19 pandemic. They seemed like the perfect antidote for the social unrest and animosity happening, even among families and friends as people divided over issues.

These virtues stirred my heart, and I found myself longing for character traits that had eternal value. I researched a flower that best symbolized each trait: As I painted, I asked God for grace to grow in each virtue.

Fruitful Growth in the Faith

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral [a]excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 2 Peter 1: 5-7

This YouTube Video, The Seven Virtues from Concept to Creation, features my process, :

I painted the virtues from bottom to top because the virtues seem to build upon one another, ending with brotherly kindness and, most importantly, love.

Love: Rose

Brotherly Kindness: Anthurium

Godliness: Lily

Perseverance: Magnolia

Self-Control: Azalea

Knowledge: Aster

Moral Excellence: Orchid
