Despair burrows, grain of sand embeds in oyster’s flesh. You cry out to God to take away your despair. Yet the dark chamber clenches its teeth even tighter.
You grope for the light so you can climb out of the darkness and yet fail to see that The Light is within.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” –John 1:5
You beseech the heavens for insight so you can see the way, and yet The Way never leaves. You kick and scream, and He coats your soul with grace. You wrestle, He covers. You squirm, He soothes. Only your surrender will open the jaws of your imprisonment.
This dark chamber of uncomfortable circumstance prepares you, like the pearl, for entrance into the world. You never know when the plucking will occur. Just when you least expect it, God’s gentle hand removes the pearl and places you among others who illuminate the darkness. Together you shine as evidence that…
“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” – John 1:4
That’s the pearl’s job! To be beautiful—to display God’s faithfulness in human form.
